Sheathing:
Standard 7/16” Oriented Strand Board (OSB) for the interior side of the panel. The exterior side consists of 5/8” Permanent Wood Foundation (PWF) plywood.
Overview:
Typically thicker than standard panels (5-5/8” to 11-3/8” thick EPS), PWF SIPs are specifically engineered for below grade uses. The pressure-treated exterior sheathing resists wood decay. Properly installed, Thermapan offers a limited lifetime warranty on PWF panels.
Applications:
Foundation Walls: PWF SIP foundations have numerous advantages over traditional concrete foundations:
Dry basements with no mustiness
Cost equivalent to concrete
No framing required to insulate and finish basement
No cracking
Fast construction – no concrete to cure
Frost Walls: Frost walls built from PWF SIPs are extremely quick to install compared to concrete, and provide the same footing protection against frost heaves.
