Thermapan SIPs feature prominently in LEED-Certified Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation.
Nestled in the lush forest of the Niagara Escarpment, the award-winning Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation prominently features Thermapan SIPs in its design and construction.
The Centre was recently built by the Niagara Peninsula Conservation Authority to showcase the natural beauty of the area and to educate visitors about the importance of conservation and ecological responsibility.
The Centre practices what it preaches: its design is a monument to the latest innovative materials and technologies for sustainable building. It is notable for its attention to sunlight exposure, energy efficiency, water conservation and ventilation.
Thermapan supplied the hundreds of panels required for the Centre's roof and exterior walls, comprising the most significant element of the building envelope, which encloses nearly 13,000 sq ft. The energy efficiency engendered by the use of Structural Insulated Panels was a major contributor to the building's LEED certification.
The Ball's Falls Centre for Conservation was opened in 2008 to rave reviews from the general public and architectural community alike. It was among the winners of the Sustainable Architecture & Building [SABMag] Awards, recognizing excellence in the
design and execution of Canadian buildings of all types. www.sabmagazine.com/blog/2008/07/26/ballsfalls/
