Building Green

Thermapan clients, and
industry leaders, have benefited from our green
building values, products and systems.
Thermapan SIPs are composed of Expanded Polystyrene (EPS) insulation and Oriented Strand Board
(OSB) or plywood. OSB/plywood is a renewable building
material and is a good choice for the environment and for
long-term cycle performance. Manufacturing OSB and plywood
requires substantially less energy than the production of other
building products, such as steel and concrete.
EPS is the most
cost-effective insulation (R-Value/$) in today’s marketplace; and, it is readily
available around the world. The large EPS blocks used in Thermapan SIPs can
be cleaned, ground up and added to the mix, to make new EPS insulation.
Thermapan does not use, produce or release any
hazardous materials during production.
Thermapan SIPs are non-toxic
and do not pollute or
off-gas.
EPS insulation provides more consistent R-Values
than fiberglass insulation. Homes and cottages
built with SIP foundations, walls, and roof
panels use up to 90 per cent less energy for
heating and cooling - reducing CO2 emissions when systems are powered by oil or gas.
The inherent energy efficiency of SIPs also encourages quicker ROI when investing in greener energy sources such
as geothermal, wind or
solar power.
